Plastic Surgery can Restore Body Contour after Pregnancy

Motherhood is a special experience but pregnancy and child birth can take a toll on your body.  While most changes such as extra weight gain can be resolved after pregnancy, some undesirable changes tend to persist.  One of these is the stubborn post-pregnancy pot belly which does not go away despite dieting and exercise. Luckily, plastic surgery provides the solution with abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery. This procedure can help remove the excess fat, repair permanent muscle separation and laxity and result in a firmer, trimmer abdomen.  Women also experience breast sag post-pregnancy. Fat that builds up in the waist and hips also persists despite conventional weight reduction methods.

The most common plastic surgery techniques undertaken by women to tone and sculpt their body parts after pregnancy are breast lift, liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Even though, tummy tuck and liposuction techniques are undertaken to improve the abdominal line, both work and provide different types of solutions or outcomes.

As per the 2012 statistics published by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) more than 10 million cosmetic surgical and non surgical procedures were performed all over in United States.  The report published the top five surgical procedures undertaken by women which included – breast augmentation, liposuction, body contouring / abdominoplasty, eyelid surgery, and breast lift. Out of which, liposuction surgery performed was around 313,011 and the number of abdominoplasties performed was around 156,508 in the year 2012.

A breast lift or mastopexy can lift and reshape the breasts. This procedure can help resolve drooping breasts after breastfeeding. Mastopexy helps restore a more youthful bustline.

Liposuction removes unwanted fat from different parts of the body such as abdomen, breasts, arms, face, neck and many other body parts. Most women undertake liposuction treatment to reduce unwanted fat stored in abdomen, breasts and other parts of the body after pregnancy. The procedure involves making tiny incisions at the treatment site to insert a small cannula to aspirate the fat. The latest laser liposuction technologies come with skin tightening effects too.

Most of these techniques can be combined for an overall body contouring effect, helping women regain their pre-pregnancy shape and boost their confidence.
